Perfecting the Art of Homemade Ketchup: A Healthier Option
If you’re anything like me, homemade condiments are a MUST in our home. In my quest to find us mayo, ketchup, dressing etc without the unneeded ingredients has been difficult! I started making our own and feel so much better feeding my family a cleaner option.
*I’m constantly adding or taking away as I prefect my recipes, so I’ll definitely make it a point to post updated recipes as I continue to grow in this area. For now, enjoy the ketchup recipe that I’m currently using.
The Recipe:
▢6 oz can tomato paste
▢1/4 cup honey
▢1/2 cup white vinegar
▢1/4 cup water
▢1/2 tsp sugar
▢1 tbsp kosher salt
▢1 tsp onion powder
▢1 tsp garlic powder
Instructions:
Combine all the ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat; whisk until smooth.
Let it come to a boil then reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring often.
Remove from the heat and cover until cool.
Chill and store refrigerated in a covered container of your choice. (I prefer a glass container and will mostly use mason jars).
